In general, Sheffield Association chess is played according to FIDE rules, but any Rules or decisions of the Association which contradict the FIDE rules may override them.

As an example, the FIDE rule which covers mobile phones:

11.3.2.1 During a game, a player is forbidden to have any electronic device not specifically approved by the arbiter in the playing venue
